The current NOCN Qualifications for Progression expire at the end of August 2009.
The majority of the units in these Qualifications have been transferred directly into the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and there are new QCF versions of the qualifications called NOCN Qualifications in Progression with new Learning Aim Codes.
The unit content remains largely the same, but unit codes and Rules of Combination for the qualifications have changed. Some qualifications now require the achievement of more credits and some less. So it is important to check that the combinations you are offering meet these revised requirements.
A benefit of the new QCF Qualifications is that they will continue to attract LSC funding but in addition they also allow for spiky profile achievement from Level 1 Certificate through to Level 3 Certificate i.e. a proportion of the units can be achieved at the level immediately below the level of the qualification.
Please contact your Business Development Manager to work with you to change your provision over to the new QCF qualifications and to discuss the revised Rules of Combination. In the meantime you can transfer your courses over to the new QCF Qualifications by using the conversion chart which will allow you to search for the new codes for the units that you are currently offering.
In order to secure funding for your provision in 2009-10 it is essential that the new QCF versions of the Qualifications in Progression are used.

More information about the QCF can be found on the QCA website:http://www.qca.org.uk/qca_8150.aspx
