External Subject Verification

External Subject Verifiers are appointed to a Centre by the OCN, where there are no Approved Internal Verifiers; requirement of the Qualification or where large numbers of learners have been registered. External Subject Verifier visits will:

• Sample assessment and learner evidence of achievement.
• Ensure that rigorous processes are in place for the assessment, tracking and recording of individual learner achievements in accordance with N/OCN requirements.
• Sign off Recommendations for the Award of Credit where no Internal Verifiers have been appointed to do so.

External Subject Verifiers are appointed for a sector or cluster of courses and will scrutinise the evidence for all units offered by the Centre in that sector / courses.

External Subject Verifier reports are made available to the Centre and form an important source of evidence for the Centre quality improvement plan.

Training for Internal Verifiers – There is training intended for Internal Verifiers wishing to achieve a formal qualification or who require training as part of the OCN South Eastern Region Centre Recognition process. Various training routes are available, depending on qualifications and experience.
